Notification of Torteval Parish meeting 13 May 2026
PARISH OF TORTEVAL

The Ratepayers and Electors are invited to meet at Torteval Parish Hall on Wednesday 13th May 2026 at the conclusion of the Ecclesiastical Meeting, which commences at 7pm for the following purposes:
- To approve the Constables’ accounts for 31 March 2026 which have been duly scrutinised and can be viewed at the Douzaine Office.
- To appoint scrutineers for the current financial year.
- To decide whether they are in favour of voting for the following amounts to be levied by means of the Owner’s Rate for the current year:
(i)Parochial Administration including clerical and legal expenses, insurances, postage, office utilities, computer expenses, stationery, and other sundry expenses. |

Public needs to be approved by the Parish, including: | |
(iii)Street Lighting | £175 |
(iv)School library grants | £1,000 |
(v)Parish maintenance | £25,000 |
(vi)Essential barn improvements and new Cemetery extension | £25,000 |
(vii)Cadastre | £1,566 |

- To approve the sum of £61,000 to cover the cost of refuse collection and disposal for the year from 1st July 2026, to be levied by means of the refuse rate, to be equally apportioned between each habitable unit.
- To authorise the Constables to apply to the Royal Court for a Remede to levy the aforesaid sums.
- To decide that the said Owner’s Rate, together with the sum approved by the meeting convened by the Rector and Churchwardens, shall be levied applying the relative factors to the TRP unit value of the Cadastre categories, which are available for viewing in the Douzaine Room.
- Any other matters the meeting wishes to discuss. However, no binding decisions can be made at the meeting.
