GUERNSEY STATUTORY INSTRUMENT 2026 No. 26
The Traffic Temporary (Rue de la Masse & Ruette de la Generotte) Regulations, 2026

Coming into operation 1 June, 2026
THE COMMITTEE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 1 of the Traffic Temporary Regulations Ordinance, 1950 and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, and in order to ascertain the best method of regulating traffic in the locality referred to in these Regulations, hereby makes the following Regulations:-
Prohibition relating to traffic on Rue de la Masse & Ruette de la Generotte.
1. (1) Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), a person in charge of a power-driven vehicle shall not drive or ride that vehicle on or along the following (in the parish of Castel) –
(a) that part of Rue de la Masse between its intersection with Rue St. Germain and its intersection with Ruette de la Generotte, and
(b) that part of Ruette de la Generotte between its intersection with Mont D'aval and its intersection with Ruette des Fries.
(2) Paragraph (1) applies only from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on days that Castel Primary School is open to pupils in accordance with the determinations of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture under section 8 of the Education (Guernsey) Law, 1970, or in accordance with any similar power under any other enactment.
(3) Paragraph (1) does not apply to the following –
(a) an electrically assisted pedal cycle (within the meaning of section 3 of the Motor Vehicles (Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles) (Exemption) (Guernsey) Law, 2002),
(b) a vehicle being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes in an emergency,
(c) a vehicle travelling to or from premises located on Rue de la Masse or Ruette de la Generotte,
(d) anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a member of the salaried police force of the Island of Guernsey or, within the limits of their jurisdiction, a member of the special constabulary of the Island of Guernsey,
(e) anything done in accordance with the terms of any permission given under the authority of the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure.
Extent.
2. These Regulations shall have effect in the Island of Guernsey.
Citation.
3. These Regulations may be cited as the Traffic Temporary (Rue de la Masse & Ruette de la Generotte) Regulations, 2026.
Commencement.
4. These Regulations shall come into force on the 1 June, 2026 and cease to have effect –
(a) at the end of the period of 12 months commencing with that date, or
(b) on any earlier date determined by further regulations made by the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure.
