Proposed Amendments to Scheduled Bus Service Timetable

Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure – Proposed amendments to Scheduled Bus Service timetable

In January, the Committee for the Environment & Infrastructure undertook a public consultation on proposed amendments to the timetable for Scheduled Bus Services.

A significant number of constructive responses were received. As a result of this feedback, the Committee has decided to proceed with a number of the proposed changes, some of which do include minor route changes or added services. A full list of approved amendments can be found at gov.gg/buses.

The consultation also highlighted two areas that raised particular concern among a considerable number of respondents. These were:

  1. The proposed removal of Route 60 and amendments to Route 61, which would result in a reduction in direct services from the west coast to St Peter’s Village, along with the loss of a service to Le Coudre;

  2. The proposed removal of the 08:15 Route 71 service, which currently provides a direct link between the Airport to Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH). The majority of responses on this issue were from Alderney residents who rely on this service when travelling to Guernsey for hospital appointments.

Having carefully considered this feedback, the Committee has worked with Stagecoach to identify solutions that address these concerns, while ensuring that no additional costs are incurred.

Given the nature of these proposed revisions, the Committee has decided to undertake a further period of consultation, providing an additional opportunity for public comment.

Proposed Revisions
To address concerns arising from the proposed removal of Route 60 and amendments to the Route 61:

Route 61
The inbound Route 61 will be amended to operate via: Pleinmont – Le Coudre – Longfrie – Le Frie Baton – La Grande Rue – Rue du Perelle – Route de la Perelle – Rue De La Maladerie – Route de la Margion – Vazon Road – Rue du Gele, before rejoining its existing route.

Routes 93 and 94
To address concerns regarding the proposed removal of the 08:15 Route 71 service (Airport to PEH link), both Route 93 and Route 94 will continue to operate on their existing two-hourly timetables.

Both routes will be amended to provide a link to the Princess Elizabeth Hospital (PEH), travelling via:  La Charroterie → Ruettes Brayes → Oberlands (serving the hospital in both directions) → Les Frieteaux → Rue Poudreuse → Les Merriennes → La Grande Rue → La Rue Maze, before rejoining their existing routes.
